By Rachel Nunez

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term dollhouses, it is a house for the dolls. Usually, these are wooden dollhouses although there are also some dollhouses made of plastic. Nevertheless, the thought is still there. Whoever plays with it will surely have a smile in the face after. Adults and children just cannot get enough of the dollhouses because they can pretend and imagine that the house they are playing with is their dream house.

The nice thing about the dollhouses nowadays is that it is not only for playing purposes but for business as well. Imagine if you are able to make a dollhouse, you can make a model for a family who intends to build a house. This helps them see their future home before their eyes, although in a smaller scale of course. At least they can see whether they want to change some things before proceeding to constructing it. Afterwards, if the family wants to get the miniature model of the house as a souvenir, give it to them. With this, the miniature model reminds them that it was just for reference and then they are now living in the real thing.

Wooden dollhouses help bring the family together because when parents play with their kids, the dollhouse acts as a medium to bind them stronger. When the family sees that they enjoy playing with it, they usually buy more items to add up to what they already have. If they still feel that they need more, they consider buying another dollhouse. The whole family can enjoy this hobby. Seeing these small scale works of art take time to make. The maker behind the items put all his effort and dedication to achieve perfection even though he has to do it one by one manually.

There is nothing wrong with machines mass producing it since it is easier this way. The machines do the hard job for you and then you are just at the end of the line waiting for the finished product. Nevertheless, items made by hand have a different character and persona once you see it. You might not notice if it is handmade or not unless you look at it closely. There is nothing more elegant and sophisticated than a miniature item created by hand with patience and creativity.

Therefore, if you plan to buy wooden dollhouses, make sure that you have enough space to put it. Some dollhouses quite big thus need a larger open space. You can place it in your porch or in your room. Wherever you put it, expect the children to follow you. They also want to play with the dollhouse because they know they will have fun with it. They can pretend to be whatever they want to be without other people ranting in their ears telling them to keep on dreaming because it will never come true. Children need the support of their parents for them to succeed in life.

In everything, the colors and the design is one of the key ingredients for a product to sell. The hues you choose can make or break whatever it is you are promoting. Bold colors like red easily grab the attention of people. Settling for the more subtle colors as pink can also attract individuals but does not have much impact. Just like in wooden puzzles, people look at the design first before deciding to buy it. Considering the price is yet another thing to remember.

There are many puzzle designs to choose and surely, you will find one that you like best. For children, cartoon characters are popular among them. Since kids love items with their favorite cartoon characters and puzzles is definitely something they can add to their collection. Children puzzles are not so hard to complete because the puzzle pieces are big and there is not so many of them. Kids can finish this in no time. They can even have a contest on who completes the puzzle the fastest. At least they enjoy playing with it rather than just letting it sit on one corner of the house.

As for the adults, there is a wider range of designs. For individuals who love fantasy, there are wooden puzzles about fairies and unicorns. They have a different aura once you see the puzzles. It is so inviting that you feel like you want to purchase it. You admire the beauty of these mythical creatures and the closest things you can get to these are the items that have them as their design. The puzzles come in different sizes so just choose which you want. You will have fun finishing the puzzle once you start it. That excitement sinks in when you see that you are almost done.

Some puzzles have famous paintings or portraits as their designs. One of the most popular is the Mona Lisa. Her smile just amazes everyone because she looks like she knows something that people would not be able to know. It also became even more famous since the releasing of The Da Vinci Code written by Dan Brown. Another well-known painting is the Last Supper. There is also The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh, The Tragedy of Picasso and many more.

If you want your wooden puzzle to be unique, you can always have it personalized. Some stores offer customizing services for people who want to own a one-of-a-kind puzzle. All they need to bring is the photo that they want to see in the puzzle. They must also know what size the puzzle is and sometimes even the number of puzzle pieces. Once these are settled, wait for a couple of days or weeks before your custom-made puzzle is complete; show this to your friends and they might want to have one too. You can even make your own puzzle with the help of do-it-yourself websites. This enables you to have a hands-on the project from start to finish. It is nice to know that you made something with your own hands.

By Rachel Nunez

Toys are everywhere. No matter where you look, surely you will see a kid holding a toy. There are wooden baby toys, remote controlled toys and the likes. Almost every toy you can imagine is available. Some toys are still in concept but they are on their way to production. Commending toymakers is necessary because they try their best to provide or come up with a toy those children and infants alike will mostly likely to play with.

Some individuals make unique toys because they do not want to go with the flow. They want something different since the toys that they see are almost the same. Adding more excitement and complexity to a simple toy makes the children want to figure out how to play with it. Not everyone has the money to buy brand new toys so they would rather wait for people to give their children toys. Nevertheless, children still enjoy playing with their toys even though it is pre-loved. Some parents donate the toys of their kids because they know that unfortunate children will be able to play with it.

Wooden baby toys are popular because they have been present for quite some time. Even before plastic and electric toys existed, wooden toys were a staple in each generation. Although the design and the mechanism changed, still the toys are made of wood. Toymakers continue to produce such toys because parents cannot seem to get enough of it. They still choose wooden toys over those more modern ones to start with. Nevertheless, in one point, children will choose electric powered toys over wooden toys because they seem to enjoy it better.

Unique toys can also be those made by the parents. Unique means different or peculiar so the mere fact that the parents took that extra effort in making a toy, the really is one-of-a-kind. It is made will love and care. That little thought of hand making a toy for their little one is nothing compared to those produced by factories. The imperfections of the toy has makes it perfect. The small flaws are for the compassion and endearment towards the babies. Parents know that they did a good job in making something they have not done before.

Taking that challenge of making wooden baby toys is something parents should be proud. In the end, others will see the extra effort you exerted just to make your little one happy. Even though you got some blisters and wounds along the way, it is all worth it because you know that your child is happy. Parents have an innate nature of making sacrifices just to make their kids live a more comfortable life. Nevertheless, parents also need to teach their children the value of independence and appreciation for whatever they do. Make them also realize that there are homeless kids out there so also wants to have a home of their own and a family to call their own. Toys are minute details of the whole picture life paints before you.

By Rachel Nunez

Toys come in two forms: the regular and the unique. Regular toys are those that you see in almost every toy store that you visit. The unique toys are toys that you do not commonly see in stores. Maybe for some, it is unique but in other countries, it is quite common for them. Wooden baby toys are regular toys because there are many toys like this. All over the globe, there are wooden toys. They come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

For parents looking for something different or out of the ordinary, they can check the internet for a wider range to choose from. The web contains much information about it and people can grab this opportunity to find that toy that they are looking for. If you still cannot find a toy that you like, you can visit some toy stores and check, their stuff if they have something you like. Going to vintage or antique stores can also be helpful since they might have a toy there that you might find interesting.

Usually, wooden baby toys are something you see everywhere. Every individual knows at least one wooden toy for the baby. These toys have been with children since they came out in the open. Children and parents alike want toys to have certain personalities. They want their toys to stand out not because they want attention but because they want to the different. Going with the flow is never okay at times and you need to swim alone for people to appreciate you even more. Standing up for what you like takes a lot of courage. People can ridicule and judge you for it but you need to stand strong for it.

Whatever you plan to buy, whether the toy is a common or unique one, be happy with it. People have different likes and if you are on the weirder side, weird is okay. Other individuals share the same things that you like. In their eyes, you are not different. People say that another person is weird because they do not see any similarities with them. Nevertheless, for individuals that you consider different, when they are with their friends, they do not consider themselves peculiar. They know that when they are together, they are just an ordinary person to their peers.

Nevertheless, wooden baby toys and other toys sold in the market are there to wait for the parents and children that want them. They might not be the most high-end toy but they still can bring joy and happiness to whoever plays with it. There are parents that believe in simplicity. They do not need to buy high-end toys or the most complex ones just to be cool or noticed. In their own little way, others know who they are and what they can do. This humility in individuals make then even more noticeable. Those who do not brag about what they have taken the stage and people admire them for it.

By Rachel Nunez

A parent’s greatest contribution to a child’s educational growth should come before the child ever begins his formal education. Parents can leave it to the schools to teach their child to read or count or write his name. But a child’s best educational opportunities and future growth depend on the combined effort of parent, teacher, and student.

There is a world of difference in the child whose parents are actively involved in his learning, and the child who is totally left on his own. It’s a difference not only in ability, in quality of work, but also in attitude and self-image. A child’s first school is the home, so the toys that his parents select for him should not only keep him amused and occupied, but also develop his physical, mental and emotional well-being. The market for educational toys has thus been opened.

Mainly addressing the clamor for toys accepted by child psychologists, toy manufacturers have come up with a wide array of toys that promise hours of fun and excitement to the child, and at the same time, meet the requirements set by these experts.

If it is true that no one ever steps into the same river twice, it is also true that no child ever plays with the same toy twice. As the child enters each stage of growth, his play changes; and as his play changes, the toy is also transformed. Psychologists have studied the evolution and development of a child’s intellect, as pioneered by Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget, by closely observing children. They have come out with a trove of realities on how toys, educational or otherwise, affect the child’s multiple intelligences.

An interesting sidebar to these findings is the fact that toys and toy advertising have powerful effects on the ways children construct their gender identities. Girls between the ages of five to eight who are exposed to Barbie dolls feel worse about their bodies than girls exposed to dolls with more realistic physiques. Female-stereotyped toys tend to promote the most complex play in 18 to 47 month-olds. But as children grow older, their gendered stereotypes about toys grow stronger. Boys, especially, become increasingly likely to avoid playing with “girl toys,” possibly for fear of social repercussions from their peers. Thus, those fashion dolls that were created towards the teens and pre-teens segment to supposedly stimulate creativity and encourage imagination, may not really be the best educational toys because they encourage gender marginalization and desensitization. Both strongly feminine and strongly masculine toys seem to be associated with the worst aspects of gender roles: i.e., a focus on appearance in girls and violence in boys.

Toy companies, like all other businesses, aim towards making money. But unlike many other businesses, the target market of the toy industry is children who are not amply fortified with the capacity to dispute these companies’ claims or question the significance of their offers. The fact that the toy manufacturers sell directly to a key market that depends on middlemen – their parents – to purchase the products, is in itself a remarkable curiosity.

The result is an abstruse circumstance wherein toy companies contend that they are protecting the children’s purchasing rights through straightforward advertising, whereas critics argue that these companies are exploiting a defenseless population.
